The
preseason games are over, the 53 man roster and practice squads are set for now
all we need is the noon kickoff in Detroit.
Let’s look
at some numbers regarding the Vikings in the early stages of the season.
Odds to win the Super Bowl
Denver and
San Francisco both are 6/1
Seattle 17/2
New England
10/1
Atlanta and Green
Bay both 12/1
Houston 16/1
New Orleans
18/1
Chicago, Cincinnati,
Dallas and NY Giants are all 25/1
Baltimore
and Pittsburgh both 28/1
Washington
33/1
MINNESOTA, Indianapolis, Detroit and St. Louis
come in at 40/1
As you can
see Vegas believes the NFC North has some very good teams. This division is the
best in football and we see that play out this season.
Week 1 has
the Vikes in Detroit. The Vegas line as of Monday has the Lions installed at
4.5 point favorites.
Since 1992
Minnesota is 21-18 versus the point spread. In the last 3 seasons Minnesota is
3-0 versus the point spread and the last 3 games in Detroit the Vikes are 2-0
versus the spread.
I seem to
remember Percy taking the opening kickoff for a TD and later Marcus Sherels
returning a punt for a TD in Detroit last year. It was also Sherels birthday
that day.
